Masirah or Mazeira Island is an island off the East coast of mainland Oman and the largest island of Oman. It is 95 km long north-south, between 12 and 14 km wide, with an area of about 649 km², and a population estimated at 12,000 in 12 villages mainly in the north of the island.

Cost And Wadi Walk Tour

Start the tour by going straight to Wadi Shab which means a “wadi between the cliffs” and enjoy a walk through the wadi, as well as a refreshing swim in those pools.

If you feel brave enough, go inside the cave accessible only by swimming. For those inclined, it is possible to walk right up to the source of the wadi through lush green plantations of lemon, banana and dates. Full Day Excursion To Batinah Region Tour

Morning we will drive to Nakhal, en route visit Seeb fish market and Fanja farms. You reach Nakhal which has a 350 years old magnificent fort and is dramatically located at the top of rock mountain cliff. The area is surrounded with dates plantations. The narrow road through the town winds up to the Hot Springs, which is a popular picnic, spot. After spending some time at Nakhal we will continue for Rustaq (about 55 kms Southwest of Nakhal), once the capital of this area and always a major trading center of Oman, Later we will drive back to Muscat via Al Hazam (Only Photo stop, Closed for renovations).

After breakfast leave for the mainland once again by ferry.

From Shannah drive Nizwa via Mahoot and Sinaw. Visit the Sinaw Souq en route. Local lunch and arrive Nizwa Hotel.

Muscat City Tour

The tour begins with a visit to the beautiful Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque one of the largest mosques in the Middle East. Visit the Natural History Museum, exhibiting the wealth of Oman’s history and thus imparting knowledge about the country’s rich culture and traditions to the visitor. Later you drive along the picturesque Corniche to the once walled district Muscat. You will have photo stops at the residence of his Majesty Sultan Qaboos, the Al Alam Palace, which is flanked by the 16th century Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali. You will be strolling through Muttrah Souq, where you will be bargaining for handicrafts and silver items.

Nizwa | Birkat Al Mawz | Mussanah

Morning after breakfast visit the powerful Fort of Nizwa with its massive Circular Cannon Tower, one of the most impressive forts in Oman and the traditional Souq. On the way you stop a pretty village of Birkat Al Mauz, located at the foot of Jabel Akhdar. Wonder in the old streets of abandoned houses made of mud and straw.

Nizwa | Jabel Shaams | Muscat

Morning tour of the Oasis city of Nizwa, the capital of Julanda Dynasty in the 6th and 7th Century AD. Today it remains an important tourist attraction with its historical buildings and imposing fort. Visit the impressive 17th century fort with its enormous round tower built by Imam Sultan Bin Saif Al Ya’aruba to defend the route to the interior. The fort dominates the entire area, with the town having grown up around it. From here proceed to Nizwa souq which is renowned for its intricately hand-carved “Khanjar” and ornately designed silver jewellery. On Friday, a unique goat and cattle auction is held and the atmosphere here is electric.

Continue to Misfah (approximately 45 minutes from Nizwa) a village in the mountains, where the houses cling to the rocks, and although they look precarious have been here for centuries. After a short walk through the village return to your vehicle and continue the journey to Jabel Shams (30 minutes drive) the highest peak in Oman at over 3,000 meters. Jabel Shams, know in ancient times as Jabel Al Qanah, means “Mountain of the Sun” and the area is home to weavers of heavy woollen rugs in distinctive colours. Lunch will be at the Jabel Shams camp. After spending some more time at Jabel Shams, drive back to Muscat .Overnight in Muscat Hotel.

Wahiba Sand | Jabreen | Bahla | Al Hamra | Bait Al Safa | Misfat | Nizwa

Leave the golden sand dunes behind you and after a stop in Jabrin Castal. You proceed to Jabrin castle built in 17th century is one of the finest of its kind. Its magnificent plasterwork, the carved doors and the painted wooden beams of the ceilings makes this castle amazingly different. Thereafter continue to Bahla, one of the oldest small towns of Oman and in the 12th century the capital of the tribe living in the region. As the monumental fort is closed for renovation only a photo stop is planned. Al Hamra visit Bait al Safa traditional home converted in Museum and Misfah to see one of the oldest villages of this region. The traditional mud houses dated back from 400 years are still occupied. The falaj system used in this village one of the oldest of this kind (UNESCO site).

Wahiba Sands Crossing | Qahid | Masirah

After breakfast leave the camp to Qahid crossing wahiba sands driving bobbing off the dunes. It takes 4 hours to cross the desert.

Reach Qahid and continue drive to Shannah, the way is flanked by one side the azure of Arabian sea and on the other side tapestry of desert dunes.

After lunch, take your ferry to the Island. It takes an hour and half to reach Masirah Island.

Masirah (65 KMs long and between 08 to 17 KM wide), is located 15 KM off the southeast coast of Oman in the Arabian Peninsula with miles of isolated sandy beaches. The island is famous for wind surfing and known for aquatic visitors such as the turtles that come to lay their eggs on its stretch of beaches and a number of migratory birds some of exotic being the egrets, curlews and the greater flamingos.
